The Naval Air Station Tillamook was constructed in 1942-43 to house eight K-class blimps which were used for anti-submarine coast patrol. Two blimp hangers were built at the NAS. Naval Air Station Tillamook was decommissioned in 1948. Today the remaining hanger (one was destroyed by a fire in 1992) is the home of the Tillamook Air Musuem. The museum has on display over 30 aircraft, many of which date from World War II. Also on display are many photographs related to the construction of the hanger and World War II.
