The description on the marker reads: "In 1774, William Bartram, famed Naturalist, camped near here and identified a wide variety of native plants and wildlife."
The marker was erected by The Garden Clubs of District VII, Florida Federation of Garden Clubs in cooperation with Florida Department of Transportation.
