Site of Moffat's Tannery
Earliest big industry in Alden from the late 1850's to the early 1900's. Local and foreign hides tanned for upper leather. Hemlock bark from nearby forests hauled in by horse and wagon, used in the process. The large building spanned Tannery Creek.
