Quick Description: Old, rusted and purely for show, this Texaco sign and pumps are roadside art that stand out in a setting of farms and fields a few miles west of Springfield, MO.

Long Description:
Someone had too much time on their hands. There was once a
truck, a sign, and two pumps placed here in the field along side
Route 66 just east of the intersection with Highway T. When I went
by in February of 2007 there was no truck. However, it still made
for a fun site to see as it was a bit of rusting mechanical
technology in the context of green fields. I'm glad someone had too
much time on their hands.
The pumps are labeled "Keotane" and "Skeltane" and
the latter is mounted upside down. I have no idea if these are
genuine Texaco brands or whether the artist is making some sort of
statement. Also of interest is the prices on the sign. Hard to
believe that a gallon of gas once went for $0.57/gallon!
