In 1870, a one room school was built at Fort and Lincoln. Around 1919, the original frame school building was replaced with a four room brick building. At that time the school was known as Ecorse School District Number 10. In 1926, the school was renamed the Cleophus Goodell school with the inclusion of a high school with the ninth grade. The Goodell School closed in 1971 and was later demolished.
Today, the original Goodell School bell is displayed in a bell tower built with bricks reclaimed from Lincoln Park schools.
