Many holes in the stone may mean that someone once tried to destroy it and use it as building material or simply to get rid of another pagan stone. In any case the beautiful menhir lay for hudreds of years broken on the ground, until it was re-erected in 1936. The menhir stands high on the south slope of the Stahlberg and was once probably visible from afar, when the forest didn't yet exist.
