Pangborn Memorial Airport is named in honor of Clyde 'Upside Down' Pangborn. Pangborn and Hugh Herndon made the first Trans-Pacific Flight from Misawa Japan to Wenatchee Washington in October 1931. The flight took 41 hours. The airport serves the North Central Washington area with daily flights to Sea-Tac airport. It is also home to the Cascade Soaring Society which is a group of gilder enthusists.
