The marker's dedication was held at 2pm November 16, 2006, with Veterans and Legion members assisting in the ceremony. The local Garden Club has plans for addition of more flora and some benches to create a serene setting around the marker, not far from a quiet picnic area. The city plans to move the nearby windmill onto a new base in a different spot to allow an even clearer view of the marker from the road in the future.
