Metropolitan Square in downtown St. Louis was completed in 1989. It was designed by the architectural firm, Hellmuth, Obata & Kassabaum (HOK), currently the world's largest architectural firm, which also has its world headquarters located in the building. Along with HOK the building houses major law firms and other other professional offices. Also located in the building is Kemoll's, a well known Italian restaurant, which also operates a banquet facility on the 42nd floor called the Top of the Met.
