  • The Central Library is pleased to offer wireless Internet access for our patrons.
    Simply bring your wireless-enabled laptop computer to the library and turn it on and go. You must have a current library borrower card in order to authenticate and begin using the wireless service. The service is availalbe on the 2nd floor at the new Central library. You may also plug in to speficied ports in the study areas on the 2nd floor at the Central library. Patch cords are available for use from the staff at the Information desk.
  • Biographies .... You Asked For It! - 2005-08-15 Readers have requested that entertaining biographies be grouped to make browsing easier. We are happy to announce that we have completed the transformation at all branches. In the new Central Library, biographies are located on the second floor, to your left, as you step off the elevator. Look for the yellow Biography sticker on the spine. In the catalogue "Biography" will be indicated under the "Collection" heading. We hope you discover many new reads, as did our staff! Happy browsing.
  • Memories of Whitby - 2005-07-14 Going to the Brooklin Spring Fair as a kid growing up, visits to Heydenshore’s lakefront park on hot summer days, recollections of Hurricane Hazel’s wrath in Whitby in 1954....memories of the Town of Whitby extend through generations. The Town of Whitby’s LACAC extends this invitation to you to share your Whitby thoughts and experiences with us as we celebrate the Town’s 150th birthday! Visitors, individuals new to Whitby, and long-time residents are encouraged to express their impressions, thoughts, memories, etc. of Whitby. You can write a short sentence or two, or a whole page – it’s up to you! Submit your memories via email to taylorj@whitby.ca with the subject heading “My Memories of Whitby.” Visit the Town of Whitby’s Sesquicentennial website at http://sesquicentennial.whitby.ca/ for information on this year of celebration.
