Fegurdi se prišli zeptat na cestu domu…
Fegurdi, dva mimozemštani ztracení po havárii kosmického modulu, potrebují najít cestu zpet domu. Jak by se meli asi zachovat? Zeptat se na Hvezdárne a planetáriu Brno, samozrejme!
„Projekt Fegurdu vznikl na pocátku roku 2022 pri mé tradicní novorocní procházce po Kraví hore, “ríká Václav Sigurson Kostohryz, autor obou soch. „Pred vchodem do budovy Hvezdárny a planetária Brno jsem si predstavil dva bloudící mimozemštany. Jelikož nedaleko bydlím a kolem casto chodím, chut realizovat nápad sílila. Moje tvorba je figurální a príbehy Sigursonu (moje alter ego) ne tak optimistické. Po rozhovorech s mými nejbližšími jsem se rozhodl posunout svoji tvorbu pozitivnejším smerem, i zde inspirován islandskou kulturou, konkrétne v pojmenování Fegurdu, což je volne preložené slovo krása.“
Dvojice soch vznikala celý rok. Na pocátku byl model ze socharské hlíny, pak dvoudílná lukoprénová forma a nakonec model z vosku. K odlití bronzových figur došlo ve slévárne Vysokého ucení technického v Brne, kde premenili voskových model na bronz. Následovalo ocištení odlitku od formovací hmoty, povrchové zbroušení a privarení nerezových tycí dovnitr postav. Dalším krokem bylo cizelování, finální broušení, leštení a patinování. Výsledkem je dvojice Fegurdu, každý z nich vysoký 45 centimetru a vážící 10 kilogramu.
Oba Fegurdi jsou trvale umísteny pred budovou Hvezdárny a planetária Brno. Jakkoli jsou bezelstní, pro jistotu jsou pod dohledem kamer a zajišteny skrytým bezpecnostním systémem. Do budoucna není vylouceno, že si pro kolemjdoucí pripraví další prekvapení, dokonce se možná rozrostou.
Nyní ale Fegurdi pricházejí na Hvezdárnu a planetárium Brno s rozpaky, prešlapují pred vchodem a jeden druhého posílá dovnitr. Muže nám to pripadat povedomé. I my nekdy hledáme cestu po ruzných nehodách, které se v živote stávají. Autor s Fegurdy verí, že žije na Zemi mnoho slušných lidí, kterí poradí a pomužou druhému v nesnázích. A tak jiste i Fegurdi budou prijmutí s otevrenou nárucí. V to verí zase brnenští hvezdári.

The Fegurds came to ask about the way home…
The Fegurds, two aliens lost after a space pod crash, need to find their way back home. How should they behave? Ask about the Brno Observatory and Planetarium, of course!
"The Fegurds project was created at the beginning of 2022 during my traditional New Year's walk on Kraví hora, " says Václav Sigurson Kostohryz, author of both sculptures. "In front of the entrance to the building of the Brno Observatory and Planetarium, I imagined two wandering aliens. Since I live nearby and often walk by, the desire to realize the idea grew stronger. My work is figurative and the stories of the Sigursons (my alter ego) are not so optimistic. After conversations with those closest to me, I decided to move my work in a more positive direction, also inspired by Icelandic culture, specifically in the naming of Fegurds, which is loosely translated as the word "beauty"."
The pair of sculptures was created all year long. In the beginning there was a model made of sculpting clay, then a two-part lukoprene mold and finally a model made of wax. The casting of the bronze figures took place in the foundry of the University of Technology in Brno, where they converted the wax model into bronze. This was followed by the cleaning of the castings from the molding material, surface grinding and welding of stainless steel rods inside the figures. The next step was chiseling, final grinding, polishing and patina. The result is a pair of Fegurds, each 45 centimeters tall and weighing 10 kilograms.
Both Fegurds are permanently located in front of the Brno Observatory and Planetarium building. As guileless as they are, they're monitored by cameras and secured by a hidden security system just in case. In the future, it is not excluded that they will prepare more surprises for passers-by, they may even grow.
But now the Fegurds come to the Brno Observatory and Planetarium with embarrassment, they step over in front of the entrance and send each other inside. It may sound familiar to us. We too sometimes look for a way after various accidents that happen in life. The author and Fegurdy believe that there are many decent people living on Earth who will give advice and help others in trouble. And Fegurdi will certainly be welcomed with open arms. Astronomers from Brno believe in that.
