The Charles Playhouse, at 74 Warrenton Street, is currently a theater. The Blue Man Group performs there, but years back, it was a house of worship. The marker reads:

"Built in 1839 as the fifth Universalist Church, this Greek revival style building designed by Asher Benjamin became the second home of Congregation Ohabei Shalom (1863-1886) and was the center of the first Jewish neighborhood in Boston. It has served as a theatre since 1958."

Visit Instructions:
When logging a Massachusetts Historic Marker, we ask that you not only describe your visit, but to upload a picture from it. The picture does not have to be of the marker - one picture of the marker is enough. But a photo of you standing next to the marker or a photograph the subject of the marker - those are examples of possible photographs to upload.
