The tour is open to visitors of all ages. Proper ID is required in order to sample beer.
This is really a great tour. I've been on it once, and plan to go again. The factory can be a little tricky to get to, as a lot of places around Boston are. I suggest taking the Orange Line on the "T" to the Stony Brook stop, as suggested by the web site. Do not get off at Ruggles or Roxbury, unless you are looking for trouble.
Tour Dates and Times (From the Sam Adams Web Site):
Tours are held on Wednesdays at 2 pm, Thursdays at 2 pm, Fridays at 2 pm and 5:30 pm, and Saturdays between the hours of 11 am and 2 pm (Saturday tours depart approximately every half hour. We recommend that you arrive early & there may be extended wait times on busy days). Groups over 15 may call (617) 368-5000 for an appointment, but we are unable to take reservations for Saturdays. Suggested donation: $2.00. All donations to benefit local charities. For more information, call (617) 368-5080.
When I visited, we got to see that guy with the long beard that you see in the Sam Adams commercials. How cool is that? We also sampled Sam Adams Light, Summer Ale, and a Stout. It was a really neat tour. Even though admission is free, I highly recommend donating at least the recommended $2 to charity.
