On JUNE 6TH, 1972 A single engine plane crashed and the pilot died on Belknap mountain, Gilford New Hampshire. Over the years people have taken small pieces of the wreakage as souviniers leaving only the larger pieces at the site. The site is about 2 tenth of a mile from the summit of Belknap Mountain. The last tenth of a mile is very steep with large rocks making the trail very difficult.
