Center Point Park
This site marks the original center of the City of Conyers, Georgia. On Febuary 16, 1854, Conyers was incorporated by the legialature providing a boundary line of one-half mile radius from this point located next to the original Conyers depot.
Originally known as "Conyers Station", a watering stop-over for steam locomotives, Conyers was named for Dr. W. D. Conyers of Covington, Georgia. The first mayor was Col. J.C. Barton.
This Park was dedicated by mayor and council on October 21, 1979.

Rockdale County
On November 17, 1864, during the War Between the States, Gen. W.T. Sherman brought his troops down these tracks through what is now Rockdale County. It was not until October 18, 1870 that Rockdale County was created by act of Legialature.
Rockdale County was formed from parts of adjoining Newton and Henry Counties.
Rockdale's name was taken from Rockdale Baptist Church, and it was the 133rd county created in Georgia.
by official resulotion, October 18, has been declared Founder's Day by Rockdale County Board of Commissioners, Howard Woodward chairman.
