Maple Hall was originally built by John B. Gibson in 1850 for his growing family. It became known as Maple Hall at the Maple Hill Plantation. In the summer of 1984 the Peter Meredith Family bought the home from Mr. Gibson's descendants.
The Meredith's fully restored this grand old mansion and in 1985 Maple Hall became an elegant country inn that sits on 56-acres that is beautifully landscaped with boxwoods, ponds and walking trails.
Many of the rooms include working fireplaces and all are individually decorated with antiques. A restored guesthouse, dating prior to the 1850 main house, includes three bedrooms, a kitchen and living room. Secluded accommodations also are available at Pond House, which includes four mini-suites and a back veranda with a view of the pond and surrounding countryside. Breakfast and evening wine is included. Gourmet dining, with specialties such as lobster bisque, prime rib or poached Alaskan salmon, is available at the inn's restaurant.
Maple Hall is located on U. S. Route 11 at Interstate 81 (Exit 195) north of Lexington, Virginia.
