The old courthouse now serves as the location of The Gold Rush Museum, where the history of America's first Gold Rush (1828) is told. Traces of gold are to be found in the bricks used to build the building. The courthouse is the centerpiece of Dahlonega, a charming town located in the North Georgia mountains and home of North Georgia College and State University.
