A member of Bensenville/Wood Dale's Boy Scout Troop 47, was looking for Eagle Scout project suggestions. He called the Bensenville Park District and spoke with the superintendent of building and grounds, who had read about Peace Poles and mentioned it as an addition to the new Breiter Palm Park.
The six-sided Peace Pole is made from western cedar and reads "May Peace Prevail on Earth" in English, Spanish, Pottawatomie, Polish, German, Urdu and Braille. The Peace Pole stands more than 6-feet tall in a circle surrounded by limestone.
