Fejervary Park has been a favorite park of mine since I was a young boy. A Family reunion would bring us into this large city park from out of town each year. First, there is the Children's Zoo to visit. There are farm animals available to pet and feed. There are also wild animals in cages that come from the local wilds, and from other countries. There is a swimming pool with water slides for children of all ages. The park sits on top of a hill, and if you are fast enough and brave enough, you can run into the steep wooded hillside and watch the train pass by far below.
Fejervary Park received its name from a family that imigrated here from Hungary, and later the only surviving child moved back to Hungary. The park grounds were donated to the city of Davenport in 1902.
After you have had your picnic, visited the zoo, played in the playground, and refreshed yourself at the pool there are other things to see and do just a few yards outside of the park. Next to the park is the Putnam Museum and Imax theatre, which should keep you busy for the rest of the day.
