General John Buford's statue/memorial stands looking westward as he did that July 1, 1863 morning, preparing to meet the advance of General Lee's army.

The statue of General John Buford was placed by the Buford Memorial Association, a group of the general's admirers.

The statue was dedicated July 1, 1895, was constructed by Henry-Bonnard Bronze Company, and Sculptor was James E. Kelly.
