Mars, Pennsylvania Peace Pole - Peace Poles on Waymarking.com

This peace pole is located in Grand Avenue Park at the center of the Borough of Mars, PA -- a small town about 20 miles north of Pittsburgh that is now at the center of a growing bedroom suburban community. Yes, there really is a Mars on Earth!

This peace pole was constructed as part of the redevelopment efforts in the park that began in April 2001. At that time, the famous flying saucer was moved to the park.

In a rather ironic juxtaposition, the Peace Pole can be viewed from the sidewalk by looking past the ship's bell from the USS Mars combat supply ship, also on display here.
