The 1955 feature, "Rebel Without A Cause", staring James Dean, was filmed on location at several sites in Los Angeles. Several scenes were filmed at the Griffith Observatory. A bust of James Dean is located on the Observatory ground to commemorate the filming here.
One of the scenes was a dramatic switchblade fight on the east portico of the observatory.
Here is the same location today. Notice the orange cone where the sightseeing telescope was in the original. The telescopes were removed during the recent renovation of the observatory and have not been replaced yet.

Visit Instructions:New logs for waymarks must include a photo of the location. The photo should try and match, to the extent possible, the original present-day photo posted for the waymark.
