FOUNDATION STONE LAID
CAIRNS, January 6.
On Saturday the Mayor (Aid. A. J. Draper) officially placed in position the foundation stone for the Cairns
memorial to fallen soldiers. The memorial will be in the form of a column of blue granite and freestone over 30ft. high. It will be surmounted by a four-faced striking clock. The contract price for the monument is
£1.765, of ivhicli £1,113 is in hand.
