This blue plaque at the entrance to Dewsbury railway station is one of two that celebrate successful mathematicians from Dewsbury who attended the nearby Wheelwright Grammar School.

Unlike the other plaque, no mention is made of a link to the station, the only link being they both came from Dewsbury and became famous Mathematicians and worked in the field of computers.

1918-1992
He is known for his work in Mathematics.
In 1957, he set up Oxford University's first
computing laboratory and became Oxford's
first Professor of Numerical Analysis from
1964-1983.An international mathematics
proze is awarded in his name. Born and
raised in Dewsbury, he attended
the local Wheelwright
Grammar School.
