Sherwood Forest ist ein Waldbereich in Nottinghamshire in England, der mit Robin Hood in Verbindung gebracht wird. In Form einer bemalten Kunststoffskulptur bereichert seit Juli 2019 ein Doppelporträt der legendären Gestalt, die im Laufe der Jahrhunderte vom gefährlichen Wegelagerer zum Vorkämpfer sozialer Gerechtigkeit mutierte, das Skulpturenprogramm des Zoologischen Stadtgartens. Die Trägerform ist ein vereinfacht dargestelltes Rotkehlchen, auf dessen Flügelseiten ein ernsthaft sowie listig dreinschauender ‚Green Man‘ Augenkontakt mit den vorbei Spazierenden sucht. Eine ausdrucksstarke Bildsprache, die viele Grünabstufungen aufweist, bestimmt die Malerei von Loïs Cordelia. Die Künstlerin wurde im Jahre 1982 im englischen Ipswich geboren. Das Kunstwerk ist ein Geschenk von Nottingham an Karlsruhe anlässlich des fünfzigjährigen Städtepartnerschaftsjubiläums.

Sherwood Forest is a woodland area in Nottinghamshire, England associated with Robin Hood. In the form of a painted plastic sculpture, since July 2019, a double portrait of the legendary figure, which over the centuries has mutated from a dangerous highwayman to a champion of social justice, enriches the sculpture program of the zoological city garden. The carrier form is a simplified illustrated little red-bellied, on whose wing pages a serious as well as cunning-looking, Green Man 'eye-contact with the passing strollers searches. An expressive pictorial language with many green shades determines the painting by Loïs Cordelia. The artist was born in 1982 in Ipswich, England. The artwork is a gift from Nottingham to Karlsruhe on the occasion of the fifty-year twinning anniversary.
