This black post clock stands in the middle of Kennedy Plaza in Downtown Providence, Rhode Island. Manufactured by the Verdin Company of Cincinnati, Ohio, this two-faced Georgetown model has round white dials with a full set of black Roman numerals, minute- and hour hash marks, and three hands. The hand tips are spades with bulbous taper shafts, except for the second hand, which is thin and straight. There is no marquee topper as shown on the company's web catalog.
Though the plaza may not offer much, look southeast across Fulton Street towards the Industrial National Bank Building. At 428 feet, it is the tallest building in the city and the state and provides a great background for the clock. Plus, it's known to locals as the "Superman Building" for its resemblance to the Daily Planet newspaper offices in The Adventures of Superman 1950's television show.
