Maryborough Railway Station was constructed for the Victorian Railways in 1890-1892 is a large, primarily single storey, red brick building, with a central portico and offset tower. The grand booking lobby has a trussed timber ceiling, tiled floor, iron gates and ticket windows. The platform verandah incorporates a hipped roof, with continuous louvred lantern along its ridge.
The Blue Plaque reads
"The station was built for the Victorian Railways between 1890 and 1892.
The station's distinctive design and scale make it one of the most outstanding railway stations in Victoria"
