The hatchery is open daily between 8am and 3:30pm. There is a small fee to enter ($5 adults, $2.50 pensioners & children) & a packet of fish pellets is $1.50. You listen to a 10 minute video about the hatchery then follow signs & a mud map to various ponds & races containing fingerlings, breeders & those ready for release.
There are large ponds, races & small circular ponds, the latter two being where I had the most success - quite a feeding frenzy. A river has been partly diverted to flow through the hatchery & where it re-enters the river proper some extremely large trout give the ducks a scare as they attack the pellets.
Afterwards you can call into the office again & buy some smoked trout, which i did. Have your fun & eat it!
