Built in 1957, to supplement the drinking water supply for Grange-over-sands with metal pipe following the outflow, Way Beck. Capacity of 44 million gallons. Initial water supply for Grange-over-sands is nearby High Newton reservoir. Reservoir has fishing through WA&DAA.
Trees are being harvested constantly, and area to south is being felled 2006.
Very picturesque.
Parking near N 54°15.509 W 02°57.038 which is on back road near Barrow Banks house, and at Gummers How car park. Dogs allowed. Good for kids. Mountain bikes allowed on bridleways.
