The Cordell Fire Department is located at 203 E. Clay at the corner of Market Street. This is a two-story stone building constructed in 1941 by the WPA. Windows in the building are set singly or in doubles. Access to the second floor is to the right of the main entrance. The ground floor entrance and windows to the west have cloth awnings.

The original building has two vehicle bays on the east side. Some time after construction of the building, wings were added to house additional vehicles. The Google aerial map still shows these wings which consisted of a metal 2-bay on the west, and on the east a concrete block 2-bay and metal 1-bay extension. The wings to the east were no longer in existence at our visit in May of 2019.
