Wells House - U.S. National Register of Historic Places on Waymarking.com

Wells house was built in 1909 by pioneer promoter W.T. Clark and became known as "Clark's Cobblestone Castle." Mrs. Clark designed the house, including the thick stained-glass apple windows and the thick walls of hand-hewn stone from the Columbia River.

In 1919, A.Z. Wells puchased the house and lived in it with his wife till 1949. That year he deeded his estate to the Wenatchee School District for the Wenatchee Junior College.

In 1972 Wells House was ruled unsafe for classroms and repairs to costly. In 1973 it was put on the Register of Historic Sites. For 30 years community volunteers have helped make the restorations. The house is rented for weddings, anniversaries and other special events.
