Cellar Stories is not in the cellar. They moved a few years back. Now the independent book shop is on the second floor of 111 Mathewson Street in downtown Providence, Rhode Island. With a "little bit of everything", they have a thousands of used books from which to choose including an in-depth collection of Rhode Island history, Art and Architecture, poetry, mathematics, and modern first editions. The rows and rows shelves are completely full and many books are piled on (and beneath!) tables throughout the shop.

We're the largest used and rare bookstore in the smallest state in the US. Cellar Stories has been buying and selling all types of books for over thirty years.

We have a stock of approximately 70,000 volumes covering all categories from vintage paperbacks, pulps and collectible ephemera to antiquarian volumes on many subjects.

Watch a short video produced and aired by C-SPAN, featuring the wonderful accent of founder and proprietor Michael Chandley and a look inside the jam packed store, here.
