Living New Deal

"“Before the Fencing of Delta County.” is an oil-on-canvas work was completed by Lloyd Goff in 1939. It was commissioned by the Treasury Section of Fine Arts.

A group of cowboys gathered around a well. A standing man is drinking from the bucket. He has a six gun strapped to his waist. His head is bare. Next to him a cowboy is squatting down. He is wearing a cowboy hat and a spotted vest. A man is standing behind the squatting man. Next is a man with his right foot propped on a wood water trough. He is wearing a cowboy hat. He has the top of a gunny sack in his right hand. Next to the gunny sack another man is squatting. He is holding a rifle in this right hand with the butt resting on the ground din front of him. He is wearing a cowboy hat. Behind the gunny sack is the water well.
