As described by the NGS in 1975 (although originally monumented back in 1934):
"ABOUT 0.1 MILE NORTHEAST ALONG STATE HIGHWAY 31 (MAIN STREET) FROM THE CROSSING OF THE CHICAGO AND NORTH WESTERN RAILWAY, AT THE INTERSECTION OF MAIN AND WASHINGTON STREETS, IN THE NORTHWEST FACE OF THE WEST CORNER OF THE BRICK PORTION OF THE ALGONQUIN STATE BANK, 13 FEET SOUTHEAST OF THE SOUTHEAST CURBING OF WASHINGTON STREET. THE MARK IS 4 FT ABOVE SIDEWALK."
Save for the reference to the "Chicago & North Western" railway (which is no longer there), the NGS description is still very accurate. The station is embedded in the Algonquin State Bank building's brick wall, at its West corner (and yes, NW facing side), above 4 ft off the ground.
The NGS' currently posted coordinates ("N 42 09 55.9 W 088 17 37.4", or "N 42° 09.931 W 088° 17.624") were spot on: my measurements were the same based on 10+ readings within 10' accuracy. I believe the NGS recently updated the coords in their database, as well as as posted new photographs of the station based on the pictures I took that day. :) :) :)
The station was recovered in good condition.
