Nong Khai is a province and city on the northern border of Thailand, adjacent to Laos. it is administered, as are all Thai provinces, from its Provincial Hall. In the courtyard to this provincial hall is an impressive fountain displaying the 'Naga King'. The Naga is a sacred Buddhist and Hindu serpent that once sheltered the Buddha from the rain.

The fountain is approximately 5 metres in length, with the impressive Naga rearing upwards behind the water jets. It is a splendid sight.
