Search and Rescue, Kaysville Fire Dept. and Davis County Sheriffs hiked over a mile up the Bair Canyon Trail to rescue a man who had fallen.

Article description:

Search and rescue crews from Kaysville were called to action Saturday evening after hiker was injured during a fall in Baer Canyon in Fruit Heights.

A Facebook post from Kaysville Fire Department said crews were dispatched to a report of a fall just after 6 p.m.

“Based off of the remote area and an uncertainty in the patient’s condition, we requested that Davis County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue be dispatched,” the post said. “Working with Davis County Sheriff’s Office deputies as well, all three agencies hiked approximately 1.5 miles up the Canyon to locate the patient.”

Crews then began to treat the person and used a stokes basket, wheel and a rope system to move the patient to the ambulance. A stokes basket is a stretcher used in rescues.

Just before 11 p.m., crews reached the parking lot and transported the patient in stable condition to an area hospital.

“We appreciate the help of everyone involved and wanted to give a huge shoutout to our Search and Rescue team,” the post went on. “We are so fortunate to have this group of volunteers drop what they’re doing at a moment’s notice to come help their neighbors in need. Their professionalism and skill level are top notch and a great resource to this county.”
