The Hixon Volunteer Fire Department is in the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George. The fire hall is fairly large for such a small community and is all volunteer headed by a fire chief. They do have occasional family gatherings and participate in community events.
The fire hall has three bay doors across the front housing their fire trucks. They respond to 911 calls through a central dispatch center in Prince George.
Hixon is a small community with less than 300 residents. The region was first settled back in 1866 when gold was discovered. At this time Hixon was a thriving community, and now has shrunk to a small isolated community. Hixon Falls is tucked away down a narrow path not far from Hixon.
