Stèle reconnaissante du 2ème Régiment de Cuirassiers située à l'avenue de la Nartelle à Sainte Maxime dans le Var.
Cette stèle a été aménagée suite à une délibération du Conseil municipal de Sainte-Maxime du 27 juin 1974. La Ville souhaitait ainsi prouver sa reconnaissance au Régiment du 2ème Cuirassiers, unité particulièrement valeureuse de la 1ère Division blindée, toujours à la pointe du combat. Ce très vieux régiment, dont l’existence remonte à l’Ancien régime, s’est particulièrement distingué en 14-18 et en 39-45 où il a notamment participé aux combats de la « poche » de Dunkerque. Ce sont les chars M4DD du 3ème escadron du 2ème Cuirassiers qui ont débarqué les premiers à Sainte-Maxime le 15 août 1944 à la plage de la Nartelle.

Grateful stele of the 2nd Régiment Cuirassiers located at the Avenue de la Nartelle in Sainte Maxime in the Var.
This stele was built following a deliberation of the Municipal Council of Sainte-Maxime of June 27, 1974. The City wanted to prove its recognition to the Regiment 2nd Cuirassiers, particularly valuable unit of the 1st Armored Division, always at the forefront of the fight. This very old regiment, whose existence goes back to the Ancien Régime, particularly distinguished itself in 14-18 and in 39-45 where it participated in particular in the battles of the "pocket" of Dunkirk. These are the M4DD tanks of the 3rd squadron of the 2nd Cuirassiers who landed first at Sainte-Maxime August 15, 1944 at the beach of Nartelle.
