Hythe is about 15 km north of Beaverlodge on Hwy. 43. Hythe is a small rural community with less than 900 residents. Its economy base is primarily agriculture, forestry and oil and gas.
Hythe has 24 volunteer fire fighters including first responders. They are dedicated and answer the call to assist when needed locally and in cases assist other area fire departments.
Hythe Volunteer Fire Department provides the following services to the citizens of Hythe and the West County of Grande Prairie.

Swift Water Rescue
Emergency Medical

Preventative Public Education
They have an antique 1955 GMC Bickle-Seagrave pumper that is seen at local events and parades.
It is interesting to note that the fire department has lined old fire hydrants around the front and parking area to use as bumpers. They were made in Edmonton in 1985 by Standard Iron.
