in Budapest was one of the most frequented authentic market halls on the Buda side a few years ago. Then the building was modernized, the home produce market stalls were wiped out and the whole market hall was turned into a mini shopping mall. The lower level of the Batthyany Market Hall is taken up by a grocery store, which is an OK shop to buy some foods, toiletries, grilled chicken, fresh bakery products, etc. But don’t expect too much, it is not a supermarket like Target, Tesco, Walmart or Asda. The upper level is taken up by other service providers (book shop, key maker, toiletry shop, etc.). So if you are looking for something like a produce market hall, this is not your option. However, if you are near Batthyany Square and you need bottled water, juices, some snacks, wrapped butchery products, dairy or shampoo, Batthyany Market Hall is an ideal option."
