"Three poles, donated by Meena and Kanwal Prashar of Rockford, were dedicated with short ceremonies throughout the day at the Ratanaram Buddhist Temple, Vietnamese Buddhist Temple and Pothikaran Lao Buddhist Temple.
“Even though peace always is in Buddhism, the wishes of the Prashar family and everyone else is a reminder to all of us about peace and living peaceful,” said Ven. Thich Phouc Tri, abbot of the Vietnamese temple. “Nowadays, you can see that violence happens everywhere. ... We should keep our minds peaceful. If you want to have peace anywhere, you have to have a peaceful mind.”
The events were planned in conjunction with the Rockford Interfaith Council, which represents more than 20 faiths and religions practiced in the Rock River Valley."
The temple and grounds are very ornate and interesting to view.
