"This building, the home of the Colton area museum and the homework assistance center, is the result of a vision initiated by the Carlton women’s club in 1902. The charitable trust established by steel magnet and philanthropist Andrew Carnegie enabled many communities across America to build public library‘s. Because the women’s club Efforts , Colton obtained a grant, permitting the structure we completed on November 11, 1908. It’s served as a library for many decades, as this is a national register of historic places."
