Fairly well centered in Barriere, Fadear Park stretches along both sides of Airfield Road, north from the Barriere Elementary School on both sides and south to the south end of the school on the east side. Many mature trees have recently been removed from the park, possibly the result of pine beetle infestation. They have been replaced with young trees, leaving much of the park open, with little shade. In the park are four ball diamonds, an outdoor skating rink in winter which becomes basketball courts in the summer. There is also another basketball court to the southeast of these.
One of the older, yet still popular, features in the park is the children's playground. While many new features have been added in recent years, such as the nearby picnic pavilion, the fitness machines, the bandshell and, most recently, the splash park, the playground has been an anchor in the park for years. There are three individual sections to the playground, each one with a pea gravel base and concrete curbing for edging. Two of the sections contain swing sets, one for the bigger kids and one for toddlers. The third and largest section houses a good sized Jungle Gym setup with all manner of hangy, slidey, climbey features.
Surrounded by a low chain link fence, the playground has a few smaller trees, but no real shade as yet. There is a picnic table inside and a large picnic pavilion, and the fitness machines, just outside the playground. The nearest restrooms that we are aware of are at the library, about 100 metres to the northeast.
