Billiards Sign uncovered following the recent demolition of the former Midwood Photography premises on the South Promenade close to the Lifeboat Station.

On Tuesday 9 July 2019 the front wall of the derelict property which had previously housed Midwood Photography & Billiard Room collapsed causing damage to a nearby parked car.

The partial collapse resulted in the whole building being declared unsafe and necessitated the demolition of the property.

The process of demolition has now (September 2019) revealed the hidden 'Billiards Sign' which is on the south gable wall of the building to the north of the site.

"From 1861 through 1881 Charles James Midwood had the Billiard Rooms at Mona Street, near the Shore in Ramsey & Baths (adjoining the Albert Hotel, Queen Street, facing the Bay). From 1881 to 1894 & onwards his son Thomas Horsfall Midwood was a photographer & Billiard Room proprietor at South Promenade, Ramsey." (visit link)
