The British Expeditionary Force was involved in the later stages of the defence of Belgium following the German invasion in May 1940, and suffered many casualties in covering the withdrawal to Dunkirk. Froyennes Communal Cemetery contains 31 Commonwealth burials of the Second World War, six of them unidentified.
Location Information
Froyennes Communal Cemetery is located 2 km north west of Tournai on a road leading from the N509 which connects Tournai to Froyennes. From Tournai follow the N50 towards Kortrijk for 1 km. At the traffic lights turn left onto Chaussee du Pont Royal. 40 metres further turnn right into Chaussee de Courtrai (N509) which, after 800m, becomes rue de Flequières. The cemetery is located 100 metres further on the right hand side of the road.

Le corps expéditionnaire britannique a pris part aux dernières étapes de la défense de la Belgique après l'invasion allemande en mai 1940 et a subi de nombreuses pertes en couvrant le retrait de Dunkerque. Le cimetière communal de Froyennes contient 31 sépultures du Commonwealth de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, dont six non identifiées.

De Tournai, suivez la N50 en direction de Courtrai sur 1 km. Aux feux de circulation, tournez à gauche sur Chaussee du Pont Royal. 40 mètres plus loin, tourner à droite dans la Chaussée de Courtrai (N509) qui, après 800 m, devient la rue de Flequières. Le cimetière est situé 100 mètres plus loin sur le côté droit de la route.
