Mustang City Hall is located on the north side of the City, in a beautiful park-like setting. The building is on the west side of Mustang Road, south of W. Southwest 59th Street. This is a one-story brick building which houses the Community Development office, the Municipal Court, the Council Chambers and the City's Administrative offices.
Mustang has a Mayor/City Council form of government with a City Manager. The Mayor is elected at large, and six Council Members are elected by Ward for three-year terms. The Council meets monthly on the first Tuesday at 7:00 PM. These meetings are open to the public and broadcast on Cox Cable Channel 20.
A post office was first established in Mustang in 1895, and the town itself was platted in 1901. Until the 1960's Mustang was primarily an agricultural and ranching town, spurred on by the railroad. State Highways 4, 92 and 152 run through town. But, as nearby Oklahoma City grew, Mustang became a bedroom community, with many residents working in the Oklahoma City factories and businesses. Today, it is a thriving town of over 21,000 people.
