The town of Fletcher was established in 1902 and named after Fletcher Dodge, who donated land for the town. The agricultural town grew primarily due to the railroad. Today, it is populated by many people wanting a small-town lifestyle, who work in nearby Lawton and Ft. Sill. Oil and gas in the area also affected the economy of Fletcher.

The Fletcher Town Hall is located in a downtown storefront at 423 W. Cole. This is a two-story brick building with the upper floor boarded. The single entrance is flanked by display windows and covered with a metal canopy. The offices are open from 9:00-4:00 Monday to Friday. The Town Council meets the second Thursday of each month at 6:30.

We notice on the town's Facebook page that they have several annual events, including a Halloween Trunk or Treat, a Christmas parade, and a fundraiser craft show.
