Most if not all of Victoria Street has been rebuilt over recent years and Westminster Council has taken the opportunity to name a space after one of their own. One wonders what Hooper, with her conservation and heritage background, would have thought of what's been done to Victoria Street, here, literally, in her name.
The plaque reads: Along the edge:
"City Of Westminster 2015"
In the centre:
"Councillor
Angela Hooper
CBE
1937-2010
Champion of
Westminster's heritage
and
Built environment
for 25 years"
The unveil ceremony took place on November 26 2015 in honour of the councillor, who died in 2010 following 25 years of service to the people of Westminster as a councillor in the Marylebone area.
