This former Ottawa Electric Railway (OER) sub-station is easy to spot. Art on the front of the building reminds visitors of a streetcar. The sub-station is the first building east of Bank Street. OER streetcar traffic began along Bank Street in the 1890s. This sub-station is first recorded in the Ottawa city directory material of 1915. Holmwood Avenue was then known as Centre Street.

In the late 1960s, the sub-station is still listed in the city directory. By 2006, the building had been converted into residences and the home of Andrew Balfour Photography.
Creation date: 1914

Status: Converted

Current use: Residence
