Undated, it is estimated that this lychgate may well have been erected at the same time of the church, 1856. The lychgate is located at the north west corner of the churchyard a short but steep climb up to the church.

The lychgate is built on a low stone wall with a wooden superstructure and tiled, pitched roof.
The church of St Mary is Grade II listed with the entry at the Historic England website advising:
"Built 1855-6 by George Vulliamy and J Johnson. Built of stone rubble. Nave chancel north and south aisles and bellcote at west end. South porch. Tiled roof. Clerestory."
